I have over 13 years of experience as an art tutor. Working with children, adults, those with learning disabilities, mental health issues and people living with dementia.
Knowledge gained over this time has allowed me to refine my teaching ability and adapt my lessons to suit all learning styles. I have developed effective communication skills whilst working with this eclectic mix of learners. This rapport enables the student to reach their full potential.
I am adept in a range of art techniques including drawing, illustration, painting (inclusive of acrylic, watercolour, gouache) printmaking, textile art, charcoal, chalk & oil pastels.
I can aid and help to build portfolios ready for gaining bursaries or for interview. I can also support students studying at GCSE & A Levels.
My teaching style is thoughtful and empathic, supporting nervous students by encouraging and nurturing their strengths. Tutoring a variety of personalities and abilities has taught me ways to support them to realise their skill and ability.
Under my guidance students can flourish. I have a gentile and relaxed approach to teaching art, its therapeutic nature compliments my teaching style and allows students to develop projects at their own pace.
I will often make an exemplar of what could be created by participants which can act as inspiration. I also design illustrated handouts to further show the technique following my demonstration. Repetition is something that helps me personally to learn so I apply this to my teaching methods.
