I’m currently a Law student at the University of Exeter, and I achieved Grade 9s in both GCSE English Language and Literature, followed by an A and an A* at A-Level. Because I’ve taken these exams recently, I understand exactly what they demand — the pressure, the timing, the mark schemes, and the small details that separate a good answer from a top one.
My lessons are calm, structured, and completely tailored to the student. We don’t jump straight into overwhelming essays. Instead, we build confidence step by step.
A typical lesson looks like this:
• 5 minutes – Quick recap or starter question to warm up thinking.
• 15–20 minutes – Focus on one specific skill (for example, structuring a paragraph, analysing a quote in depth, improving introductions, or comparing texts clearly).
• 20 minutes – Guided practice where we write together and improve answers live. I show exactly how to upgrade sentences and deepen analysis.
• 10 minutes – Clear feedback and a simple action step to practise before the next session.
As students grow more confident, we introduce personalised timed practice in a supportive way, so exams start to feel manageable rather than stressful.
Because I’ve recently been through the system myself, I don’t just teach theory — I teach what actually works in the exam hall. I explain what examiners are really looking for and how to hit those top bands consistently.
My aim is simple: stronger writing, clearer thinking, higher grades — and most importantly, genuine confidence in English.
