I don’t.
Language is about people. It’s about understanding how they think, what they value, what makes them laugh, and how they see the world. Grammar matters—but only because it helps us communicate ideas.
For over 15 years, I’ve been guiding ambitious learners through every stage of that journey: bilingual teenagers preparing for GCSE, A Level and IB examinations, Oxford University students, and professionals learning Russian for work, research or simply because they are fascinated by the language.
My lessons combine deep language knowledge with clear structure, academic rigour and genuine curiosity. Whether we’re analysing literature, discussing current affairs, translating complex ideas or preparing for an exam, the goal is always the same: to help you become a confident and independent user of Russian.
Along the way, my students have achieved:
• 100% Grade 9 at GCSE (most recent cohort)
• 95%+ A/A* at A Level over many years
• Places at Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and other leading universities
But what I’m proudest of isn’t a grade.
It’s when a student starts asking questions they didn’t know they wanted to ask.
Boring people don’t learn Russian.
If you’re looking for a teacher who will challenge you, support you, and meet you where you are—I’d be delighted to work with you.
