I am a creative person and I love incorporating activities in to my lessons and making classes fun and engaging.
I first experience teaching was at a globally recognized company teaching kids and teenagers, which lasted 3 years. Here, I developed my lesson planning skills, teaching style and understanding children's learning needs. I also became adept at teaching grammar, phonics and creative writing. Between 3-6 week periods during summers and winters I would teach specific courses such as writer's guild and phonics intensely, so my skills were effectively sharpened. I taught classes of students 4 to 18 years old. These 3 years were my most informative and were mostly experimental. I know when to use digital technology appropriately, involving some personally designed PPT games, and blending this with more traditional methods of teaching using handouts and whiteboard. My classroom management is also more refined as I can move fluently through lessons while engaging students for the duration; being able to add my personality in to a classroom more freely as the academic side has become more ingrained.
I took 2 years away from teaching children to focus on University teaching. I gathered some new skill sets in a different teaching environment with courses such as academic writing, business English and a specialized note-taking course. Class size would be between 10 and 40 students. I also spent a lot of time in the past few years teaching young children at home in groups of 2 or individually, and doing online teaching. I currently teach adults and children online.
