I am a 16 year old student at Bournemouth School for girls, who has excelled at maths throughout the years . For my GCSEs I have just taken my final maths exams as well as taking further maths, a level 2 qualification. I am hoping to recieve top grades for both of these subjects as predicted from my mock results. During my school time I had taking extra maths challenges through the years including junior and senior maths challenges achieveing either a silver or gold award every time. Next year I am looking forward to furthering my maths skills by taking A-level maths and further maths.
The format I use for my tutoring sessions is usually starting with an opening session getting to know the students: what they are working towards, particular issues in maths in general and any strong or weaker areas.
Following this I will make a personalised plan on sections of the syllabus to work on each week to boost the student to high grades. At the end of the session I will leave the student with some harder questions on the topic we have worked on to take home and try. The following week we will mark this together and reflect on the topic. This trend repeats for each minor topic in maths. To secure this knowledge, follow up starter question will recur throughout the weeks to ensure the methods and understanding of the topic isn’t forgotten.
However this will vary depending on the student, how often/ long the sessions are and what the final goal is tailored to the students needs.
I aim to keep every lesson as interesting and productive as possible to ensure the highest results.
