Every student is different, so I tailor every lesson to the individual's needs, whether they are aiming to pass GCSE, secure a Grade 9, improve confidence, or achieve an A or A* at A Level. Before we begin, I identify strengths and areas for development so that lessons are focused on the topics that will have the greatest impact.
Lessons are structured, engaging and interactive. I believe that students learn mathematics best by doing it themselves, so I explain new ideas clearly before guiding students through carefully chosen examples and then giving them opportunities to solve problems independently. Throughout the lesson, I ask questions to check understanding and encourage students to explain their reasoning, helping them develop confidence as well as mathematical fluency.
I have over 20 years' experience teaching Mathematics in leading UK and international schools and have been Head of Mathematics in successful departments. I also have experience as an examiner, giving me an excellent understanding of examination requirements, common misconceptions and the techniques that help students maximise their marks.
I teach GCSE, IGCSE, A Level and Further Mathematics across all major examination boards. Lessons can focus on mastering difficult topics, improving problem-solving skills, strengthening exam technique or preparing for forthcoming assessments. Students receive personalised resources, regular feedback and, where appropriate, carefully selected homework to reinforce learning between sessions.
Whether lessons take place online or face to face, my aim is always the same: to create a relaxed, supportive environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, enjoy learning mathematics and make rapid, measurable progress.
