My teaching ethos is centred on precision, personalisation, and long-term progress. Every lesson is designed to be tailored, engaging, and results-focused—building a clear path from where a student is to where they want (and need) to be.
I begin by carefully reviewing each student’s current work and listening attentively to pinpoint their specific challenges—whether it’s structuring arguments, misinterpreting questions, or managing time under pressure. From there, I use positive reinforcement and structured guidance to rebuild confidence and unlock their full potential.
In English Language and Literature, my approach is grounded in clarity and critical thinking. I supply students with a rich bank of high-quality model answers—sourced from past papers, examiner reports, and my own top-band responses. Together, we compare these answers against the mark scheme, identifying what makes them exceptional. This demystifies what "A*" work looks like and gives students a clear, actionable framework for success.
We then co-write model answers, line by line, with live, constructive feedback. Over time, this collaborative process builds the student’s independence and self-belief. For English Literature in particular, I provide detailed PowerPoints filled with deeply analysed quotes, examining the effect of every literary technique with implicit, original interpretations. I also incorporate student input, guiding them to form their own readings and connect these to context, critics, and assessment objectives—all aligned with what examiners are looking for.
In Maths, I adopt a step-by-step method. Students identify the topics they struggle with, and I then prepare a custom lesson with a clear visual breakdown using PowerPoint—explaining the exact logic behind each step. We progress from foundational understanding to more complex variations of the same problem, so the student sees how examiners can reframe questions. We then work through past papers together, reviewing every error, and I reframe explanations until they make sense in a way the student can remember and apply confidently.
Every lesson is supported by bespoke resources—including annotated model answers, visual aids, summary slides, and targeted past paper practice—all designed to accelerate learning and secure top performance.
Whether it’s preparing for the 11+, GCSEs, or A-Levels, I make sure that my students don’t just understand the content—they master it and learn how to excel within the boundaries of the exam.
