Dr Richard Knapp Knapp

I have a lot of experience teaching students from School through to University and also in helping students pass exams. I use a relaxed, focused approach that helps students to feel positive about the learning experience and to build confidence with the subject.

I am very familiar with curriculum content and I also have a PhD in Shakespeare which means that I can help with detailed critical understanding of ideas as well as helping students to prepare essays and exam answers.

My approach encourages the student to feel confident in their use of language and expression skills, as well as building confidence in speaking and thinking about ideas.

I have also taught performing arts and can help students of poetry and theatre to appreciate the performance side of their work when appropriate and have also helped students prepare for auditions and performances.

I have taught areas on the curriculum such as modern poetry, the Renaissance, the Novel, Shakespeare, Creative Writing, Theatre, historical and modern fiction, film and television studies, creating stories and developing grammar and narrative skills.

I create classes to suit the best learning styles and can adapt and personalise the approach to learning for the student’s individual preference.

My purpose is always to help the student achieve success in whatever they are seeking to study and many of my students have gone on to achieve top grades at school, college and university level English. I will focus on any areas of improvement you wish to strengthen to help you to be successful.
