I have developed online and distance learning formats of teaching arts practice and art history using PowerPoint and Zoom.
One-to-one teaching is student focussed - what requirements are needed, what are the expectations of the student. I will ask the student: What skills do you already have, to build on, what new skills do you want to acquire? What are your goals (learning to draw properly, understanding colour theory, getting better results in your A level Art, gaining a place at a college or university. This initial conversation aims to set realistic expectations.
I have developed specialist skills in teaching drawing from observation and imagination, painting using waterbased media and printmaking (mono, intaglio). My artwork is represented by I teach art history with an emphasis on 19th and 20th century Western art, as well as contemporary art.
I can help with structuring and researching academic writing, contextualising arts practice, putting a portfolio together for application.
