My lessons are structured, engaging, and fully personalised to each student’s needs. I always begin by getting to know how a student learns best, what they enjoy, and which areas they’d like to improve.
I break tasks down into manageable steps and use clear explanations, examples, and interactive exercises to keep lessons both enjoyable and effective. Students are encouraged to think independently, ask questions, and feel comfortable exploring new ideas. Throughout the lesson, I give supportive, constructive feedback and highlight small wins to help build confidence. I also set optional practice tasks between lessons if parents or students would like them.
My lessons are designed not only to improve academic skills, but also to help students develop long-term confidence in English. I make sure that each student understands why we are working on certain skills and how they can apply them in schoolwork, exams, and everyday communication.
In terms of experience, I’ve worked with students across primary and secondary levels, including those preparing for the 11+. I passed the 11+ myself and attended a grammar school, where I achieved top grades: a Grade 9 in GCSE English and an A* at A-Level English. This background has given me a strong understanding of the standards required and the best ways to help younger students progress towards them.
Overall, my aim is to create a supportive, motivating, and well-structured learning environment where students can grow in confidence, enjoy the subject, and make steady, meaningful progress.
