My tutoring experience began at school, where I delivered one-to-one lessons to students in younger years to help them gain confidence and learn in a more relaxed environment where there is no pressure from the teacher. In February of 2023, I began tutoring for a company, which involved a rigorous interview followed by training on how to approach lessons and safeguarding. I have loved every session I have delivered - there is something very satisfying about passing on knowledge to others and seeing them have the illusive 'eureka!' moment. Having completed over 50 hours of lessons over the last couple months (less than I hoped, but exams were looming), I am confident in my successful approach to delivering high quality lessons in maths to students.
Lessons will typically follow the following structure - introduction to theory, followed by worked examples, finishing off with going through practice questions to cement understanding on the topic/topics we have covered. Of course, there will be an opportunity for questions every step of the way, and the difficulty of the content will progress as you become more comfortable with what we are covering. The dynamics of the lesson will be adapted to each student to match their learning strengths - whether you are a visual, audio or hands on learner, I will arrange the lessons to match your preferences. If you have had a long day or are distracted by something, not to worry! We will slow right down and have a chilled out session - learning whilst stressed/tired is tough and required a different approach.
