My lessons are structured but flexible, depending on what the student needs most—whether that’s strengthening subject knowledge, improving essay technique, or practising exam questions. I usually start with a quick recap or warm-up activity, followed by focused teaching and interactive tasks to check understanding. I use clear explanations and modelling to demonstrate how to approach problems step-by-step. Throughout the lessons, I place strong emphasis on specific assessment objectives and key concepts, ensuring students understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how to meet those criteria effectively.

I also encourage metacognition and self-reflection, helping students become more aware of their own learning process, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies to improve independently. This approach empowers students to take ownership of their progress and builds their confidence over time.

Based on ongoing assessment of their work, I provide targeted intervention tailored to areas where students struggle most, whether it’s understanding particular theories, applying knowledge in essays, or mastering exam techniques. I also incorporate regular feedback and goal-setting to keep students motivated and focused on clear, achievable targets. Using a mix of past papers, active recall, and real-world examples, I keep lessons engaging and relevant. Having taught in both school and college settings, I adapt my methods to suit different learning styles and abilities, always aiming to create a supportive, motivating, and enjoyable learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and pushing themselves. This supportive approach helps build exam confidence and encourages resilience, preparing students not just academically but mentally for their assessments.
