I normally converse with student about their background and aims for improving their English. I’m interested in their life experience , their travelling and their home town. I like to hear about their interests whether literature, music or current affairs.
We could start with how to form questions and then grammar of a selection of tenses . Vocabulary could come next and we could focus on the vocabulary of a theme such as travel or reading. Pronunciation should be looked at. A text could be selected for the student to comment on and perhaps to add to . He could devise questions on this text . We could have a conversation on this theme
