My English lessons are designed to be engaging, structured, and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on helping students up to GCSE level build both confidence and competence in reading, writing, grammar, punctuation, and comprehension, as well as developing exam strategies for the best possible outcomes. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to match their preferred learning style, whether that’s visual, auditory, or practical exercises.

A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material, followed by targeted activities that address the student’s specific challenges. For example, we might work on comprehension skills by analysing texts together, discuss essay structure and planning, practise spelling and grammar exercises, or complete exam-style questions under timed conditions. I aim to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because this is when the most learning happens.

I bring experience from one-to-one tutoring sessions, where I have supported students with a wide range of abilities and confidence levels. Achieving a grade 7 in GCSE English myself gives me insight into what examiners are looking for and the common areas where students struggle. I use this knowledge to provide practical advice, explanations, and step-by-step guidance, helping students to improve their skills efficiently.

Lessons are interactive and adaptable — I encourage discussion, questions, and reflection, so students remain actively engaged. I also provide personalised homework or practice tasks to reinforce learning between sessions. My goal is not just to improve grades, but to make learning enjoyable, boost self-confidence, and equip students with skills they can continue to use independently.
