I’ve performed in five different orchestras over the nine years I’ve been playing the flute, plus a school production orchestra (Oliver!). I’m a patient and understanding teacher, and I can shape my lessons to match the learner’s pace, while incorporating new teachings in a way that is easy to understand and get a grasp of. For beginners, my lessons will start with learning how to make a sound on the flute and playing a few simple notes- however, if the student doesn’t know how to read sheet music, that will come first. Once the student has gotten a basic grasp of sight reading, we will move onto basic songs from a beginners flute book- I would recommend purchasing the Abracadabra flute students book, 3rd edition. Your student will need at least one beginners flute book for lessons. Flute grades go from 1-8, and if the student wishes to pass a grade, I would recommend purchasing one of the ABRSM flute books.
