Derek Colley

I am a private tutor for Key Stage 2 (Year 3 - Year 6, ages 7-11), Key Stage 3 (Year 7 - Year 9), Key Stage 4 (Year 10 - Year 11) and Key Stage 5/FE (Sixth form), with the ability to support SEND pupils of all ages. I specialise in English Language, English Literature and Computer Science, with KS2-KS3 coverage of Mathematics, and can provide specialist computer science training at KS5 into adulthood in current technology topics such as cloud computing, ML/AI, data and programming.

My name is Derek Colley. I hold a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, Postgraduate Diploma and Ph.D, together with my Postgraduate Certificate in Higher and Professional Education. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Association (FHEA) and member of the National Association for SEN (NASEN), and I am currently training for my "Recognised Teacher of SEND" certification.

I have six years of University-level tuition experience, where I have supervised over a hundred students and taught many more in group settings; previous experience in one-to-one tutoring (English and Maths) at KS2-KS3, and experience teaching GCSE subjects including English and Computer Science at KS4. I teach to the National Curriculum but can provide specialist coverage of individual topics by request.

I am open to tutoring opportunities in the Tameside region (Hyde, Denton, Stalybridge, Ashton-under-Lyne and nearby surrounding areas). All tuition takes place at the child's home. I hold a current Enhanced DBS check, a copy of which can be provided on request, and I am fully insured.
