As someone who has 5 years of tutoring experience and received tutoring as a child, I’ve had the opportunity to learn what works in a learning environment and what doesn’t from both angles.
My main focus in any lesson is to make sure my students have a full understanding of the content in teaching. I achieve this by encouraging communication so my students are never afraid to say “I still don’t understand” or “could you explain that in a different way” as many times as they need to.
As a teacher I aim to make the subject fun for my students, even if it isn’t a subject the typically enjoy. For me this is achieved by creating fun analogies and giving them the chance to bring their own questions from outside of our lessons to broaden their understanding. Planning ahead can also be done to make this possible without limiting the amount of content I can cover each lesson.
