My lessons will usually begin with me explaining the purpose of the topic at hand, along with its background and real-life applications. In this way, the students will have a greater understanding of the topic and will more likely be engaged. I like to use textbooks from time-to-time, but I prefer explaining myself with the solid information that I have. I am also heavy on retrieval exercises, since they are a form of active recall that will enhance the students' knowledge for the long run. Remember that exams are practically a memory test and not actually a test of knowledge- therefore strategy and routine is key. After having done a lesson, I usually make the student wait 2-3 days before tackling exam questions. That way, we can see what they have truly retained and what we need to work on. I have previous experience at an in-person tuition centre for 1 year. Consequently, I know the dire situation students face with engagement in Mathematics so I am primed to help. With double A* in Maths and Further Maths in the 2025 exams, my recent results demonstrates how my method of learning is valid. With more recent understanding of the subject compared to other tutors, I offer a new and unique dynamic.
