David Humphreys

I have extensive experience of teaching and tutoring mathematics to students aged with some experience of mathematics. I pride myself on being able to break down multistep problems and complex concepts into easy to understand and work with topics. I work at the pace of the students I am working with and whilst careful not to go too fast, I do ensure that students are pushed, challenged and supported in a constructive way to not only secure excellent levels of mathematical understanding but to also ensure that any misconceptions, anxiety and mathematical reluctance are eliminated.

In teaching mathematics, I like to start off by checking the basic skills that underpin the mathematics you are going to be learning. This is t ensure that you can make the best possible start to learning new knowledge.
I will start of the teaching by demonstrating the methods needed to be successful with careful and throughout examples with detailed explanations. We will then work through further examples together where you can demonstrate your own understanding and ask as many questions as you like. When you feel confident enough to complete some work independently I will check your understanding and offer further support and challenge where needed, ensuring that I push you to achieve your full potential.
