During my 30 year teaching career I have worked across 3 middle schools, 1 junior school and 3 primary schools in various roles including deputy, head, executive head, advisor and consultant. Don't be daunted by that lot though, at heart I am just a teacher who loves to teach. I am a good humoured, open individual who makes learning as interesting as possible. My favourite subjects to teach are maths, science and history but I am happy to cover anything within the primary curriculum. I fully appreciate that we all learn in different ways and this needs a teacher who can teach in different ways. Therefore, I can't tell you my teaching style because it depends upon your learning style. I will always try to use practical examples in everything I do and believe in honest feedback. If you are getting it wrong I will tell you; then follow that up with ways that you can then get it right! Once we establish how we are going to work I will try to create lessons that have a fixed structure as I believe routines and consistency allow the brain to store information and order it. Quizzes, quick fire questions and answers, rapid descriptions and organised arguments are just some of my go to techniques that help students grasp ideas without feeling that they are being "taught". I will always be open to feedback and am very happy to adjust how we work, making sure I am understanding of context and situation. Sometimes we all just want to listen; we can't be singing and dancing all the time.
