My lessons primarily are designed on the specific topics being taught, so whilst employed by schools, I would normally run lessons via a scheme of work on a novel, poetry, non-fiction etc. These would consist of both paper and electronic resources: PowerPoint and word documents / worksheets. I differentiate resources for all learners and can provide both vocabulary / phrase mats and creative writing techniques. These would have sentence stems and devices that can be used to make your own writing more proficient/efficient and aimed at right audience with right purpose; e.g. writing to persuade using devices such as: rhetorical questions, emotive vocabulary and direct address. In addition to being a teacher, as a creative writer, I am able to edit and instruct student work to include a wide range of techniques and sentence openers for maximum effect. Teaching Literature, I am able to teach how to accurately use the right quotations for evidence when answering reading questions: e.g. How does the writer present the character of Scrooge in chapters 1-3 of A Christmas Carol, or How has the writer structured the text to keep the reader's interest? I am able to teach strictly to exam requirements and would utilise a range of past papers to instruct and give example of success criteria. I am very confident with basic English: grammar, correct use of punctuation, paragraph length and topic, and tenses of verbs etc. Overall, I have a wealth of experience to offer.
