I am a qualified Maths teacher (Diploma in Education and Training) with a diverse professional background that has shaped both my teaching style and my ability to support a wide range of learners.
My experience includes working as a Maths Teacher within an Alternative Provision setting, where I supported students with additional needs including ASD, ADHD and SEMH. This role required patience, adaptability, and the ability to build trust with learners who may have previously struggled in traditional educational environments.
Prior to this, I served as a Warrant Officer in the military and later as a Police Officer. These roles developed my leadership, communication, and mentoring skills, as well as my ability to remain calm, structured, and supportive under pressure. I have extensive experience in coaching, guiding, and developing individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
My teaching style is structured, clear, and highly supportive. I take a step-by-step approach to ensure learners fully understand each topic before progressing. I place strong emphasis on building confidence, particularly for those who may feel anxious or lack belief in their mathematical ability.
I adopt a personalised approach to every learner, beginning with an initial assessment to identify strengths, gaps, and learning preferences. From this, I develop a tailored learning plan to ensure each session is focused, effective, and aligned with the learner’s goals.
My key qualities include patience, consistency, and the ability to explain concepts in a simple and accessible way. I create a calm, non-judgemental learning environment where learners feel comfortable to ask questions and make progress at their own pace.
Overall, my aim is not only to help learners achieve a pass in their exams, but also to build lasting confidence and a more positive relationship with learning.
