My lessons are structured, supportive and focused on helping students properly understand maths rather than just memorising methods. I am currently an undergraduate pursuing a Master’s degree in Mathematics, and I have 3 years of tutoring experience working with students at different levels.
In the first lesson, I usually identify the student’s current strengths, weaknesses and confidence level. From there, I create lessons around the topics they need most help with, whether that is basic number skills, algebra, geometry, problem solving, or exam preparation. I explain each method step by step, check understanding throughout, and then give students guided practice before moving on to more independent questions.
I focus heavily on confidence because many students struggle with maths not because they are unable, but because they have gaps in understanding or have been made to feel that maths is too difficult. I aim to make lessons calm and clear, so students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Once the basics are secure, I gradually increase the difficulty so they can apply their knowledge to harder and exam-style questions.
For GCSE students, I include exam technique, common question types, calculator and non-calculator methods, and how to show working clearly to gain marks. For younger students, I focus on building strong foundations so they are prepared for future topics.
My teaching style is patient, organised and adaptable. Every student learns differently, so I adjust the pace and explanation depending on what works best for them. My goal is to help students improve their understanding, build confidence, and make steady progress in maths
