I have BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Realisation from London College of Fashion University of the Arts London. I have experience working in apparel as an assistant designer and mainly working for my private clients.
I am currently teaching private face to face sewing lessons alongside my dressmaking business.
I have a solid knowledge of market research and fashion trend research as well as proven hand drawing skills and efficient in Adobe Suite CS5 and Microsoft Office Suite. I have an excellent knowledge and ability of traditional and creative pattern cutting. I am sufficient in draping on the stand and creating mock-ups/toiles. I am sufficient in using industrial as well as domestic sewing machine, overlocker machine and coverstitch machine as well as couture hand sewing techniques.
I can teach you how to create a mood board, story board, colour board and customer profile to start with. Then I will introduce you to basic sketching principles and creating their own figure template for sketching designs. Then I will show you how to modify and manipulate basic pattern blocks according to your design and show you how to cut fabric. You will be required to make a mock up of the design first before using the actual material. Fabric research and lesson about types of fabrics and their use would be included too. You will also learn how to take a measure with measuring tape and how to do a fitting.
Lessons can be modified to your needs and requirements. You just need to tell me what skills are you aiming to gain from the course and then I can make an individual plan for you.
