As a native Russian speaker and a current postgraduate student at the University of Leeds with over eight years of experience in a rigorous academic environment, I am confident in my ability to help students achieve their language goals, whether for exams, professional development, or personal enrichment.

My background has provided me with a deep understanding of the educational process. Having spent the last 8.5 years immersed in academia - from my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics to my current MSc and ongoing PhD studies - I understand what students expect from a teacher. My previous experience as a private tutor in mathematics and physics taught me how to break down complex information and adapt to individual learning styles as demonstrated by my students’ high scores on national exams. Furthermore, my experience presenting research at international conferences has improved my ability to structure information logically and communicate it clearly to diverse audiences - a skill I believe is directly transferable to teaching the structure of the Russian language, because any language first of all is a system.

Beyond my academic background, I am actively engaged with the very audience I wish to teach. Through informal language exchange meetups with students from the Russian Studies department at Leeds, I have gained direct insight into the specific challenges English speakers face. I don’t just help them with vocabulary, I assist with grammar and cultural context. This experience has reinforced my passion for sharing my language and culture. Moreover, as a new person in the UK I am currently studying British pronunciation techniques, which has given me a unique understanding of the differences between Russian and English in terms of phonetics, speech apparatus, tongue position, etc. This allows me to provide targeted help with accent reduction and pronunciation at a fundamental level.
