My lessons are friendly, structured and tailored to each student’s goals and interests. I teach all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to more advanced players and I adapt my approach to suit each individual’s learning style and pace.
Lessons usually include a balance of technique, repertoire and core musical skills such as reading, listening and (where appropriate) improvisation and creativity. For beginners, I focus on building strong foundations in posture, tone and rhythm. While more experienced students develop expression, fluency and stylistic awareness. I support students preparing for grades and auditions as well as those learning purely for enjoyment.
I provide clear guidance on how to practise effectively between lessons and can suggest suitable books and listening to support progress. I specialise in jazz and contemporary styles on saxophone but also teach classical and popular repertoire across all instruments.
As a performing musician and experienced teacher, I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel confident, motivated and able to make steady, enjoyable progress.
