My Approach to Teaching:

I use a structured yet flexible approach to tutoring, with a slight preference for scaffolding practices that help students build understanding step by step. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my methods to suit individual needs while maintaining clear lesson structure.

Lesson Format:

Each session begins with a conversation about what you're finding challenging - identifying weaknesses is key to making real progress. I'll then assess your overall understanding through targeted questions and examples to pinpoint exactly where we need to focus. From there, we work through problems together using scaffolding techniques, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps. We will then conclude with a light homework tailored to reinforce what we've covered.

What I Bring:

As a 3rd-year MMath student, I have a deep understanding of pure mathematics, statistics, and mechanics. My university-level knowledge means I can explain topics thoroughly and answer questions beyond the curriculum when needed. I'm passionate about helping students see mathematics as logical and achievable rather than intimidating.

My Teaching Strengths:

- Strong foundation across all mathematical areas: algebra, calculus, trigonometry, statistics, and mechanics
- Patient and clear explanations using multiple approaches
- Structured lesson plans that track your progress
- Understanding of exam board requirements and what examiners look for
- Experience with scaffolding techniques to build confidence gradually

Availability:

I'm available mainly in the evenings and weekends, with flexibility to work around my university timetable. I'm happy to teach both online and in-person in the Lincoln area, whichever suits you best.

Building Confidence:

Many students struggle with maths not because they lack ability, but because they lack confidence. My approach focuses on celebrating small wins and gradually building up to more challenging problems. I use scaffolding to ensure you're never overwhelmed as we start with what you know and systematically build from there.

Exam Preparation:

Whether you're preparing for GCSEs or A-levels, I understand the exam structure and marking criteria. I'll help you develop exam techniques, time management skills, and the ability to tackle different question types confidently. We'll work through past papers together and I'll show you exactly what examiners are looking for.

Ongoing Support:

Between sessions, I'm available to answer quick questions if you get stuck on homework. I want you to feel supported throughout your learning journey, not just during our scheduled lessons.
