Danella Newson

Hi! My name is Danella and my lessons will be organised, engaging, and catering to students’ different learning needs.

My experience involves teaching young children to adults, using a variety of creative activities such as visual aids, games. I would often teach the same concept multiple times using different strategies such as singing, videos, actions, stories, etc. I also find that allowing students to choose how to display their learning is important such creating activities that suits to multiple learning levels and planning lessons, objectives and activities based on ability.

I use a lot of center-based, hands on learning activities. I also think it’s the best grouping students in mixed ability and ability groupings helped them work more independently. As part of my regular classroom routine with students, I created a list of words that were related to the weekly themes such as weather, this helped them to have an understanding of the following lessons.

I also make sure to familiarise myself with my students’ culture, customs, and everyday lives so they have a better approach and understanding towards learning English.

In my lessons there will be an interactive approach to learning as such as a variety of tactics, including writing assignments, pair work, discussion, problem-based learning, and situation analysis.

Now we live in a digital world, and I will incorporate the use of technology in lessons, to engage students better. Some platforms being classdojo and quizlet!

Building a rapport goes a long way in creating strong relationships with students and will help them learn better.
