Why should you choose me? It’s all very well getting GCSE tutoring from someone with a master's degree who did an O-level before the syllabus even existed but if you want good marks for your children, you’ll want actual tips and tricks from someone who did them (and did them well). After all, which would you trust more, a 40-year-old mechanic who learnt how vehicles worked back when they had horses for engines or an F1 pit crew to work on your car?
Put simply, I understand what is needed from a tutor. I had predicted straight 5's only a year before GCSE and managed to flip my marks to straight 9's. If your child receives tutoring from me, I can and will do the same for them.
(Furthermore, as proof that these are not empty words, I am currently studying at Westminster school which is almost literally the "formula 1 team" of the academic world, with 79% of all grades being 8/9's)
Details: Lesson Structure: The first 15/30 minutes will be devoted to explanation. Whether your child is learning new content or grasping something they didn't quite get in class I will explain it to them in an easy manageable format making big concepts seem simple. The second chunk of the lesson is devoted to putting the first half into practice. Active learning is crucial, so tutees write answers to questions I set based on the itinerary of the first half. Mind maps and past paper questions are key to active learning. Additionally, familiarizing your child with the style of exam questions will help your child to learn exam technique and make the exam feel less stressful when they sit it.
My tutoring sessions take 30-60 minutes based on the age of the tutee (8-15 years old)
