For a typical lesson, I'd prepare a set of worksheets with a variety of exercises. Each activity is tailored to the needs of my student, either focusing on something they'd previously mentioned needing help with, or something I've noticed during our previous lesson. I'd usually set homework (again, tailored to needs) if my students have time in their schedule, and any work unfinished in the lesson would either be completed as homework or finished next session as a recap, incorporated into an updated lesson plan. My typical resources take the form of word or pdf documents, sent to my student or their parent before the lesson to be printed off. I'll usually begin with a starter (introducing the theme of the lesson or recapping the previous one, depending on what's most needed) and will then take around 10-20 minutes on each exercise, talking through the answers they gave and noting down any patterns of incorrect answers or misunderstanding to be revisited. My experience ranges from 11+ tutoring (where I managed to tutor 2 students through the exam successfully) and GCSE English tutoring. Having attended 2 grammar schools myself and passed the 11+, I have an extensive understanding of the specification and pressures of preparing for the exam. I also scored a 9 on my English Literature GCSE and an 8 in my English Language and Maths.
