My teachings are highly flexible, in my opinion. I don't have a favourite teaching technique or manner of connecting with students since, in my opinion, each student is unique, as is each lesson, and a good teacher should constantly tailor their teaching to their audience, the degree of discipline in the class, the complexity of the subject, and so on. I like a more personalised approach to teaching, and I vary between being an authority, demonstrator, facilitator, and delegator. So far, it has been working great, so I have no reason to doubt the success of my teaching technique.
I always try to establish goals with each one. Not what I want, but what the students want, and what they want to achieve from our collaboration. Then, taking into account their present language skills and personality level, I develop a clear plan, complete with goals and tests, to evaluate our progress regularly. Then I pick my teaching approaches, tailoring them to the strategy and the overall aim we have with the learner and maximizing the hour student spends working on practical tasks.
