My lessons are planned to meet the individual learner, whether that means preparing for an exam, trying to build fluency or accuracy for professional use, or even fun, engaging lessons for young learners! I am a former Director of Studies with 7 years of teaching English as a 2nd language. I have 5 different TKT qualifications from the University of Cambridge and have taught over 50 teachers how to teach English. I have extensive pedagogical knowledge and am confident I can build a lesson to meet your goals.
My lessons typically start with an interesting video, reading, or discussion around a lexis before beginning to learn vocabulary and grammar. I try to facilitate learning in student-led lessons by helping learners to use context, situations, or familiar words to discover the meaning of new language. This helps learners to remember the new content while also demonstrating how to use it in a natural way. My lessons then work on building accuracy before moving on to applying the new content into another situation. After that, it's time to move towards some practice that builds in independence. If the learner likes, I can also assign some ways to use the content until our next lesson to help consolidate the new material.
