My lessons are designed to feel calm, supportive and focused, especially for students who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of themselves in learning spaces. I work with a clear but flexible structure, so students know what to expect while still having room to think, ask questions, and explore at their own pace.
Each session usually begins with a short check-in to understand how the student is feeling and what they need that day. From there, we move into the learning task using a mixture of explanation, visual support, practical examples, and guided problem-solving. I adapt my approach to how each student learns best, whether that means breaking information into smaller steps, using real-life examples, or slowing down to build understanding and confidence.
I have a background in psychology, counselling and learning support, which helps me recognise when a student is stuck emotionally rather than intellectually. Many students, especially those with ADHD, anxiety, or low confidence, struggle not because they are incapable, but because they have learned to doubt themselves. A big part of my work is helping them feel safe enough to try, make mistakes, and keep going.
My online lessons are interactive and collaborative. Students are encouraged to talk, think aloud, and take part rather than simply listen. I also support organisation, motivation, and study skills, so learning becomes something they feel capable of managing, not something that overwhelms them.
