In my lessons I like to use a combination of collaborative work, independent study work and Q&A surrounding the material covered. I will always do a portion of the session where I fully run through an explanation of work and check in with the student before beginning any worksheets. In terms of building a session, I like to have an initial chat with the student in the first lesson to discover any target areas that they wish to cover and have a detailed focus on. Alongside ensuring that these areas are covered, I will plan lessons to ensure that all areas on their specification are worked on before any exams. Every week I will set the student homework which I will have them send to me before the next lesson in order for me to mark this and provide feedback at the beginning of the next lesson. I have found this to be immensely helpful in previous teachings and allows for problem areas to be properly identified.

I acknowledge that each student is different and different approaches are needed to ensure optimum success for every individual, and so I will adapt and tailor my sessions according to methods which are best suited to the student in question. I highly encourage each student to ask lots of questions as I believe this produces the best results.

I have tutored for 2 years previously and have had great results with all students achieving their target grades of A*-B. These targets are set based off conversations with the student and any other input that a guardian may feel is needed.
