I have a BSc and MSc in mathematics and I completing my PhD in August 2025. I have 20 years experience as a private one-on-one tutor. For the last 6 years I have been an online tutor for over 70 students per year using Zoom and the virtual whiteboard Idroo, which enables both tutor and student to write in real time on a mutual board. You can bring in specific problems that you want to go over and we can solve them together. If you don’t have problems, just concepts, that’s okay too, as I can always make up examples to help demonstrate concepts. Together with my research experience in differential equations and black hole perturbation theory (4 peer-reviewed publications relating to gravitational waves), my extensive experience as a graduate student, TA and tutor makes me an expert in all levels of calculus, linear algebra, ordinary and partial differential equations, real and complex analysis, differential geometry and mathematical relativity. The format of lessons with me depends on how you learn best. I can adapt my style to suit your specific needs. Sometimes I do most of the talking and math, and students will either just watch and absorb, or follow along by writing in their own notes. The Idroo whiteboard can be saved to PDF at the end of each session, so it’s up to you whether or not to take notes. Other times, students prefer to write on the board themselves and talk through their reasoning out loud, as a form of practice. In that case I can confirm your correct steps and clarify ideas if you get stuck.
