My lessons combine knowledge comprehension with exam preparation to ensure students can apply what they know in a way that matters.

Knowledge comprehension:
Understanding a concept fully is the only way to truly be able to use that information in an exam scenario. I work with students to find gaps in their comprehension and use real-world personalised examples to improve their understanding. Content can be tailored to the students specific exam board, this should be indicated in the pre-session questionnaire.

Exam preparation:
For most of my students, this is where our focus lies. Learning a concept in class and being able to apply it successfully to an exam question are two different things. I focus on developing students critical analysis and independent thinking, skills that are essential for those higher mark questions. I use practise papers to prepare students for exam question wording, which we will then go through and mark together using the marking criteria, so that students solidify their understanding of what examiners are looking for. Marking criteria will be used from students specific exam board, this should be indicated in the pre-session questionnaire.

Real-world application:
I bring my six years of clinical experience to my lessons, giving students real-world examples of theoretical concepts, helping to solidify their knowledge. As a BSc Psychology graduate myself, I also offer advice and information on university courses, realistic expectations for a psychology graduate and valuable career insights for those striving for a career in psychology. If you are serious about a career in the competitive field of psychology, getting a one up on your peers is essential and knowing what to expect out in the job market can help you make informed decisions about your university course.
