Hello, I’m Claire Barrett, an experienced and passionate English teacher offering high-quality online tuition for KS3, GCSE and A Level students. I studied English Language and Literature at Oxford University and have over 25 years of teaching experience in leading schools. I specialise in both English Language and English Literature and have extensive experience preparing students for public examinations across a range of exam boards.

I currently teach AQA A Level English Language and English Literature and GCSE English, and I am also an examiner for AQA A Level English Language and iGCSE Edexcel English Language. This examiner insight allows me to guide students with a clear understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to achieve the highest marks. My students consistently achieve excellent results because lessons focus not only on knowledge of texts and language but also on the skills and strategies needed for exam success.

My online lessons are structured, engaging and tailored to each student’s needs. I help students develop confidence, analytical thinking and strong writing skills through close reading, discussion and carefully designed exam practice. I also have many years of experience teaching home-educated students and understand how to provide clear, supportive guidance for independent learners.
