Ciaran Morrissey

My name is Ciarán and I would like you to consider me as your ‘Online Tutor.’ I believe that my past experience, which I will outline below, would make me a very suitable candidate for this position.

I graduated from Mary Immaculate College of Education in 2017, with a second class honours grade 1 (2.1) Bachelor of Education degree. Since graduating, I have worked as a special education teacher, a shared special education teacher on two separate occasions, as a class teacher to numerous grades and as an autism class teacher. This demonstrates my adaptability and suitability to numerous different contexts.

Throughout my career, I have also been working as a private tutor. I have six years of experience in this area and am currently continuing this work with regular clients in the areas of literacy and numeracy, while also expanding into teaching English as a second language. I have successfully worked with children with numerous learning difficulties such as ADHD, PDA, autism, EBD, dyslexia and dyscalculia, to name a few.

Furthermore, teaching online during covid and my experience as an online tutor to date have aided me in developing my use of technology and online platforms in education. Throughout my career, it has been very important to continue the process of professional development, with numerous courses being completed in different areas. This is something that I aim to continue to do in use of online teaching technology. Also, as I am currently learning Spanish, this is something that will be a great benefit to me in the virtual classroom, for Spanish speakers
