Hi! I'm April, and I'd love to help you learn Mandarin in a way that feels enjoyable and practical.
I have a Master's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages and several years of teaching experience in both China and the UK. In China, I taught adult learners with different learning goals, while in the UK I've supported Mandarin teaching in secondary schools and worked with students preparing for GCSE and A-Level Chinese.
I know that everyone learns differently, so I don't believe in using exactly the same lesson for every student. Before we start, I'll take some time to understand what you're hoping to achieve, whether that's improving your speaking skills, preparing for an exam, learning Chinese for work or travel, or simply studying for fun.
My lessons are relaxed, interactive and adapted to your level. I like to include plenty of speaking practice, useful everyday vocabulary and activities that help you use Chinese confidently in real situations. If you're studying for GCSE or A-Level, we can also focus on exam techniques, reading, writing and speaking practice.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is seeing students become more confident over time. I know learning Chinese can feel challenging at first, so I always try to create a friendly environment where you can ask questions, make mistakes and learn at your own pace.
Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience with Mandarin, I'll be happy to help you reach your goals. I look forward to meeting you!
