Christopher Tanton

I’m a former Head of Mathematics at a successful secondary school and sixth form college in Cambridge, with over 15 years of one-to-one tuition experience and 6 years in the classroom. I hold a First-Class degree in Mathematics and Qualified Teacher Status.

My teaching uses strong mathematical pedagogy and evidence-informed practice. I break complex ideas into manageable steps, identify misconceptions, and use variation, retrieval, and suitable examples and counter examples to build secure understanding. Lessons are adapted to each student so that they are challenged yet motivated, remaining in the zone of 'proximal development', where progress happens quickly!

I teach both online through zoom and in person at students' homes or in nearby public spaces, depending on what suits. I'm so confident that you will be happy with the quality of the tuition provided that if you are unhappy with any aspect of the first lesson, just let me know and it is free :)
