As a freelance theatre director and dramaturg, I have an excellent approach to text and teaching English. My work as a director has seen me working with actors of all ages including children, where I have had to direct them in their performances and work them through the script (most notably The Time Traveller's Wife, West End, where I was the Associate Director). Furthermore I have a degree in Theatre and English Literarure from the University of Birmingham.

As a tutor, I am happy to be lead by the student's approach firstly: some like to work from zoom, in which case, at then end of every class we would set an agenda, so they know exactly what to bring to their next class online; or if preferred, I am happy to travel to the student's house (as long as it is within a reasonable distance).

My aim is to make the sessions engaging and exciting, and empower the student to fall in love with English. I do this through various techniques, including the below:

Focus on using English to communicate effectively, rather than just memorising rules or grammar.
Provide clear examples and detailed explanations of concepts, making them easier for students to
Incorporate practice and drill activities to reinforce learning and build fluency.
Use effective questioning techniques to encourage active participation and deeper understanding.
Provide regular feedback to students on their progress, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
Regularly review previously covered material and summarise key concepts to reinforce learning.

I am a warm, approachable and fun tutor. I have a passion for English and it shows it my approach.
