My lessons are really fun and engaging. I think this is the best way to help students achieve results!
I will outline with an objective for the lesson: so it is clear what should be achieved within the hour(s). Starter tasks will also be presented to see what they can remember from previous lessons. Whilst I was in school, I was always presented with these things and I genuinely believe it helped me when it came to exams or assessments. It is easy for us to forget things that were taught to us in previous lessons, but it shows how important it is to revisit topics every so often.
I then would like to focus on the topics they struggle with most, with questions prepared on what they do know. From there, we can build on what they are unsure about, what needs more work. I will constantly provide thorough feedback on their answers which they can write down.
I don’t want my students to get stressed or overwhelmed, so they are free to take as much time as they need and ask as many questions as they want to. However, at times, I would want to challenge them and push them further as this does help long-term. I want my students to always think: “why?”. Every student should always have a reason why they believe this is the answer, and have evidence to back this.
By the end of my lessons, I’d really hope that they go away feeling that little bit more confident - this is what I want to achieve.
