My tutoring style encourages you to think for yourself and reach the answer by considering questions from a new perspective, giving you a greater sense of achievement. I prefer that students come to me with specific questions e.g. an exercise from their textbook, a homework sheet, a revision website etc; normally, I start by asking you to tell me what you think you should do, then I adapt based on your answer. I try to ask you questions to nudge you in the right direction without giving you the answer, or for longer questions, to break them down into smaller, more approachable questions. If I can see that there's some understanding missing, I can take a step back and go over the fundamentals, and then we do some practice questions together until I'm confident you can do some questions on your own to check your knowledge. I find this style works well for me, and my students have often felt the same way.
I recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a 2:1 in MChem Chemistry, and I am currently doing MSc Forensic Science at KCL. I gained A*s in Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A-Level, as well 9s in Chemistry and Mathematics at GCSE, and an A in Additional Mathematics FSMQ. I have a year’s worth of experience in tutoring these subjects with EasyA, an app-based platform, as well as experience tutoring over Zoom with Passion For Language. I have also occasionally tutored on an as-needed basis in person with students.
