I don't rush my students during teaching, nor do I clock-watch. I make sure I take my time to tutor them so they can fully understand each lesson. In subsequent lessons, we review the previous lesson to ensure the student understands what was previously taught before diving into the next lesson.
If there are other areas that the student wants to discuss, such as other school subjects not within the scope of my contracted subject, I don't mind offering a little help. I just want to make sure that the student leaves each tutorial session happy and feeling like I've made a positive impact on their educational life. The key is effective communication, commitment, and understanding how best your learner learns.
