Teaching both within Canada and internationally in Germany, I have learned that no two student learning experiences are the same. Every student may require unique attention to certain methodologies, learning techniques, visual aids, etc. Much of this has to do with both the level of the learner (elementary, secondary, University, Adult, etc.) as well as how they have been conditioned to learn. Take me as an example: I am heavily a visual learner. I do well with maps, graphs, charts, reading exercises, and pictures. In my own pursuit of education, I have been able to utilize these tools both with the help of my own teachers and under my own initiatives. Through these experiences, I have been able to learn plenty of tactics and techniques for how to figure out what form of learning suits you best and how we can implement that both in-person and virtually.
Through my previous work as a privatized corporate tutor, I was able to learn about the function of word problems in English language learning. Let's face it, the English language is a tough one; it has a lot of unnecessary prepositions and words in general that can confuse and muddle your own internal translation. Because of this, word and picture problems are a shining example of how we can overcome some of these hurdles together. I am consistently developing my own lesson plans for tutoring English both as a first language and a foreign language and am confident that I can curate something that works for the both of us. However, if it doesn't work for you, I am always open to constructive feedback to tailor a lesson plan that works specifically for your English language learning needs.
