I am an A Level student studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Philosophy, and having taken my GCSEs this year, I believe I have valuable wisdom on taking GCSEs. In year 11, I went from getting a 7 in Maths in my December mocks, to a 9 in both my March mocks and GCSE, which has not only showed me how to effectively revise for the exams, but has given me a deep insight into the amount of effort and dedication required to excel at maths GCSE. In total, I achieved 10 grade 9s in my GCSEs. My lessons will be primarily structured around the pupil, I will take time to learn how they work best and how they prefer to learn. In my lessons, we will discuss recent maths lessons, highlighting what the student understood and what they didn’t, which will guide the worked examples I do with them, and what questions I provide for them to work through. I prefer to work via OneNote (Microsoft), however I can use other platforms if that works better for the student. On OneNote, I will create a shared workbook for the student, where I will upload all notes, examples, and resources used in the lessons for them to look back on during revision. Furthermore, all questions used in lessons and possibly homework i’ll be uploaded there, so the student can easily access them. They can then take a picture of their work and upload it onto said shared online notebook, for me to mark virtually and give them personalised feedback to help them improve. I strive to create a relaxed, friendly environment for the student, building a strong relationship which will help me best understand their needs, allowing me to sympathise with any difficulties or academic challenges they are currently experiencing. I look forward to helping my new student to fulfil their full potential in their GCSEs!
