I bring over 10 years of teaching experience, with extensive expertise supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. I have trained education staff nationally and internationally in phonics and early reading, and have helped design a phonics programme tailored for learners with additional needs. I was also selected as a company role model for contributing to company-wide improvements in inclusive language and best practice.

In addition, I am a trained Mental Health First Aider and have worked throughout my career to promote accessibility, diversity and inclusion, including in my role as a Wellbeing Champion.

What does that mean?

Basically it means that in my sessions you will see me: carefully adapting pace to suit the learners mindset, individualised resources to support the learning, using specific encouragement and gradual independence to support confidence, a focus on emotional wellbeing (as this is what can make or break learning something new), and working towards personal bests rather than comparing to other students.

My lessons are calm, fun, structured, and personalised to each learner using these steps:

1. Building trust and getting to know the learner: how they learn best, what motivates them and what style of feedback they prefer,
2. Planning bespoke sessions to ensure they are engaging, supportive, achievable and provide a healthy challenge for them,
3. Reviewing the sessions and making any necessary adaptations.

A typical session structure includes:

-A warm check-in
-Revisiting previous learning
-New learning introduced in a fun, interest-based way
-Supported practice together
-Independent application through a short, engaging task
-Reflection and review
-Positive close-off

*Families receive clear feedback after sessions and where helpful, I also share follow-up tips or resources to support learning between sessions.
