Hello! My name is Charles Chang, and I am originally from Dalian, China. I studied in the UK, then returned to Beijing for work, and later moved back to the UK, where I have been living and working for many years. With over ten years of professional experience in international finance and the renewable energy sector, I have developed strong cross-cultural communication skills and a deep understanding of both Chinese and Western lifestyles.

In recent years, I have noticed that more and more people are traveling to China for the first time. However, Chinese culture, customs, and daily habits can feel very different compared to what many Western travelers are used to. This inspired me to create a course that helps first-time visitors feel prepared, confident, and excited for their journey.

My lessons combine two important elements: basic Mandarin and practical travel advice. You will learn simple and essential Chinese phrases for real-life situations such as ordering food, asking for directions, taking transport, or checking into hotels. At the same time, I will provide cultural insights and useful tips about everyday life in China, including payment systems, transportation, dining etiquette, and accommodation.

My teaching style is practical, friendly, and adaptive to each student’s travel plans. Whether you are visiting China for tourism, business, or personal reasons, I will ensure you gain both the essential language skills and the cultural knowledge that will make your trip smooth and enjoyable. By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate confidently in basic Mandarin and feel fully prepared for an unforgettable experience in China.
