I inspired learning through an enthusiasm for the subject, high standards and a sense of humour. I have applied adaptive teaching and high behavioural expectations to plan and deliver high-quality lessons for pupils to strive for excellence. When teaching the GCSE energy topic, I enabled higher-attaining pupils to complete exam-style practice questions independently while scaffolding lower-attaining pupils to approach the same questions. I fostered pupils’ engagement through activities such as research tasks and group debates. I identified misconceptions in topics such as moments, through analysing pupils’ assessment data with ICT tools such as Excel. Assessment evidence showed improved performance following targeted interventions and teaching to address misconceptions.
