Changmin Kang

I am an Architecture student at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA), one of the world's most recognised architecture schools. Having personally gone through the UK architecture application process, I understand the challenges students face when building a portfolio from scratch, selecting projects, writing personal statements, and preparing for interviews.
My lessons are aimed at students who are planning to apply for Architecture, Art & Design, or related creative courses in the UK, particularly those studying at international schools or following the British curriculum (IGCSE/A-Level). I also support students who are unsure how to begin their portfolio or want guidance in developing a stronger application strategy.
Rather than focusing solely on producing visually attractive work, I help students develop a portfolio that reflects their individual interests, strengths, and long-term goals. The aim is to create a portfolio that communicates clear thinking, creativity, and potential—qualities that university admissions tutors actively look for.
I also provide guidance on university applications, personal statements, interview preparation, software skills, and broader questions regarding studying architecture in the UK.

• Previously studied Architecture at Cardiff University and achieved results within the top 5% of the Architecture cohort before transferring to AA.
• Successfully gained admission to the Architectural Association (AA) through portfolio and interview assessment.

• Longlisted for the AA Writing Prize 2026 for architectural research and critical writing.
• Supported university peers with portfolio development and design projects, including assisting a graduating Architecture student who achieved First Class Honours.
• Over 6 months of tutoring experience teaching IGCSE and A-Level students from international school backgrounds.
• Experience mentoring students through architecture portfolio preparation, from initial concept development to final presentation.
• Proficient in Rhino 3D, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and physical model making.
